UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a landmark moment marking 25 years of statehood, Jharkhand has made its first-ever appearance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos.
Led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the state’s participation signals a decisive push to position Jharkhand as an emerging destination for sustainable investment and global partnerships.
Ahead of the five-day global conclave, the Jharkhand government delegation on Saturday inspected the state’s dedicated pavilion housed within the India Pavilion complex at Davos.
The pavilion will serve as Jharkhand’s principal interface with global leaders, investors, policymakers and multilateral institutions from January 19 to 23.
The World Economic Forum 2026 will bring together heads of government, industry captains, innovators and international organisations to deliberate on shared global challenges, ranging from climate change and energy transition to inclusive growth and geopolitical uncertainty.
Showcasing a Vision of Sustainability and Inclusion
Jharkhand’s debut at Davos will highlight its development priorities across sectors such as electric mobility, energy security, environment and forests, bio-economy, and women’s empowerment. Through focused engagements and curated presentations, the state aims to project itself as a key partner in India’s just transition agenda and a contributor to global climate and sustainability goals.
Officials said the pavilion will also spotlight Jharkhand’s strengths in natural resources, renewable energy potential, nature-based and cultural tourism, and its growing emphasis on value addition, green industries and skill development. Special attention will be given to inclusive policies centred on tribal welfare, women-led enterprises and community-driven growth models.
During the forum, the Chief Minister and senior officials are expected to hold bilateral meetings with global corporations, development agencies and impact investors to explore collaborations in clean energy, sustainable mining, manufacturing, agro-forestry and innovation-driven enterprises.
The state will also showcase recent policy reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and creating an investor-friendly ecosystem.
Jharkhand’s presence at WEF 2026 reflects a broader intent to move beyond its traditional identity as a mineral-rich state and emerge as a hub for sustainable development, responsible industry and inclusive economic transformation.
As it steps onto the global stage at Davos for the first time, the state is seeking to align its local priorities with global aspirations-anchored in sustainability, equity and long-term growth.
