UditVani, Jamshedpur: The National Metallurgical Laboratory ( NML), a leading CSIR lab in association with The National Academy of Sciences, Jharkhand Chapter and Indian National Academy of Engineering today celebrated National Science Day here today.
The celebration was attended by Prof. Pratim Kumar Chattaraj, Distinguished Professor, BIT Mesra and Asaad Ahsan Raza, GSI Jharkhand.
Speaking at the event, Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director NML delivered the welcome address and recalled the contributions of eminent scientists in nation building and the popularisation of Science in India. He also narrated on the legacy India has for the Science.
Professor Indranil Manna, VC, BIT MESRA and Chairman,NASI Jharkhand Chapter who welcomed all the guests, students and members of NASI covered all the facets of science right from energy conversion, materials and the metallurgy to the various aspects of clean energy.
He recapitulated the efforts Indian scientists made since world War start and the rigorous efforts needed to augment world class research in all aspects of STEM to make a Viksit Bharat.
Prof. Chattaraj in his theme lecture elaborated with deep essence of chemistry, physics and metallurgy in the examples cited followed by the works and eminence of C.V.Raman and his contributions to light scattering, Rayleigh scattering and Spectroscopy. He depicted the efforts made by Sir C.V.Raman towards cultural Science and promoting Indian science and scientists outside India.
The program was attended by 135 students and 75 researchers from NML.
