UditVani, Jamshedpur: In observance of World Toilet Day, public toilets in Jamshedpur were given a thorough makeover through a joint initiative by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and JUSCO.
This collaborative effort aimed to improve hygiene standards and raise awareness about sanitation, aligning with the global theme of the day. The effort focused on not only cleaning and sprucing up the facilities but also celebrating the importance of public sanitation.
JNAC’s Commitment to Cleanliness
The event was attended by JNAC Special Officer Krishna Kumar, members of the JUSCO team, and public toilet managers.
During his address, Kumar stressed the importance of keeping public toilets clean, functional, and easily accessible to the public. “It is a top priority to ensure that public toilets remain clean and operational. We urge the citizens to use these facilities responsibly,” he stated.
In recognition of the vital role played by sanitation workers, JNAC distributed PPE kits to them, acknowledging their critical contribution to maintaining public hygiene. He also urged residents to avoid littering and to use the public toilets appropriately for sanitation purposes.
Highlighting the Importance of Sanitation and Hygiene:
Sanjay Jha, the manager of Sulabh Toilets in Jamshedpur, shared insights on the long-standing observance of World Toilet Day, which has been recognized globally for over 40 years. “On this day, we decorate all public toilets and set up special lighting to commemorate the occasion,” he explained.
